About Us

STEM STARS is an afterschool science club for children in grades K-5, entirely led, organized, and run by high school students. We meet at the Abington Free Library once a month for an engaging science activity with a brief mini-lesson introducing and explaining the science behind the activity. This encourages kids to become STARS, also known as Students Thinking And Reimagining Science. We believe that connecting younger students with older students passionate about science can foster that same love for STEM in the younger generation! We aim to show kids that science is fun, and STEM STARS allows them a place to decompress, have a snack, learn, gain new interests, and most importantly, have fun!

"Science and working with children have always been passions and interests of mine. I am beyond privileged to work with such creative, fun, and fascinated kids. I know that my younger self would have loved the opportunity to do fun and interactive science activities expanding off of the kinds of topics I covered in school. I love running this program and organizing activities with the wonderful librarians at the Abington Library, and having my wonderful team of student volunteers help during club meetings!"
